Great Egret in Winter
Happy Winter Solstice! A few years ago I went to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area just prior to the winter solstice. It’s such a fantastic place for birding and photography. It’s easy to get to, has an abundance and variety of wildlife, especially during the winter and migrating seasons.
The late winter afternoons provide a nice soft light – often the fog will be just starting to gather acting like a giant soft box. I do wish this Egret had been flying the other way to have the head in the light, but we can’t have everything!
Awesome shot Elizabeth – aren’t egrets beautiful in flight!? Great job getting a nice, sharp shot of this beauty
